Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange information between a server and a client. Because the info exchanged by the two sides is protected, a 3rd party simply cannot intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of managing a website hosting account. The commands that can be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, for instance, the choices are limited because you'll not have root access to the web server, so you may simply create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, import and export databases, etcetera. They are all actions that are carried out in the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to set up server-side software or to restart the server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, and if you don't use a UNIX-like OS, there are a lot of apps for other OSs, you can employ to connect to the remote hosting server as well.
SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
SSH access is available with all shared service which we offer. With some of them, it's included by default, while with others it's an additional upgrade that you can include with a few clicks from your website hosting Control Panel. You can get SSH access through the section related to it where you will also find the information that you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You may select the password that you shall use and, if necessary, you'll be able to modify it with a couple of clicks from the same location. All the commands that can be used with our shared plans are listed in a help article alongside relevant examples. If the SSH access feature is permitted for your account, you shall also be able to upload files using your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our semi-dedicated server accounts provide the possibility to access and control them using SSH. If the package deal which you have picked comes with this function by default, you simply have to enable the SSH access function using the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the function is listed as an additional upgrade, you could quickly add it via the Add Services/Upgrades link in the Hepsia Control Panel and it will be available within a minute. We have a lot of help articles and video tutorials about the use of SSH commands to manage your account and an entire list of the commands which you can execute together with several examples to offer you a better idea of what you could do. If SSH is enabled, you shall also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload information safely and securely via any FTP app which supports the function.
SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
You shall be able to use SSH to control your content regardless of which VPS servers you pick when you sign up, since all of our plans include this feature by default. You'll not have to include or enable anything by hand - as soon as your web server is prepared and you receive the Welcome email with the login information, you'll be able to connect and begin working on your Internet sites or any software that you would like to set up and run on the machine. You will have root-level access to the VPS and due to the fact that the account shall be separated from all the other accounts inside the physical server, you shall be able to do anything you would like without any restrictions. You can install any application you require and which will work on a Linux-based machine, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and handle your files and databases fast and easy.
